Production Supervisor – Powder Coating

The Position
The Powder Coating Systems Supervisor will oversee and guide a team of production workers within the Powder Coating Department. This role is responsible for ensuring team efficiency, meeting performance goals, enforcing policies and providing support and training to team members. The Supervisor will be expected to possess strong leadership skills and technical experience which will enable him/her to understand, and trouble shoot powder spray equipment and substrate pre-treatment system and chemistry. Additionally, the supervisor will be responsible for communicating effectively with upper management and contribute to a positive, productive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of existing associates in order to ensure that safety, quality and production targets are achieved daily
- Establish methods to meet production schedules and co-ordinate work with other departments
- Provide feedback to Product, Manufacturing, and Applications engineering for continuous improvement of product powder coating methods.
- Communication to alternate shift in order to maintain flow of work and keep others apprised of priorities and the status of jobs.
- Resolve production issues and recommend measures to improve productivity
- Train employees on job duties, safety procedures and company policies
- Track and report production results – Quality/Productivity/Audits/Scrap
- Champion projects associated with the powder coating facility infrastructure and process flow.
- Research and propose equipment purchases for approval by executive management.
- Provide ongoing support to product manufacture and facilitate issue resolution as needed.
- Identify opportunity for process improvement including implementation of equipment, tools, and fixtures.
- Assist in the development of tooling and fixtures for manufacturing efficiency and accuracy.
- Document instructions for safe and best practices of processes, equipment, tooling, and fixtures.
- Provide time study and material estimate support for production capacity analysis of major programs.
- Provide support to quotation process through technical review of quote structure, estimate of manufacturing tooling and fixture costs, and estimate of manufacturing process times.

Qualifications
- Engineering Diploma and/or college level courses or equivalent corporate training.
- Powder coating systems experience is an asset
- Minimum five years manufacturing-related experience.
- Familiarity and experience with ISO 9001 systems and compliance.
- Persistent and consistent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.
- Significant practical experience and poised comfort level operating common fabricating equipment.
- Succinct, articulate, and considerate communication and organizational skills.
- Collaborative and cooperative approach to colleague interaction and group participation.
- Proven leadership and tactful approach to providing direction to others.
- Professional rapport with business partner counterparts and associates.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of technical drawing creation and interpretation.
- Functional working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
- Exposure to CAD/CAM programming software.
- Experience with the care and use of measuring tools (vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
