Melitron Corporation is pleased to announce, it has been awarded certification under the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) of the Federal Government. This program is administered by the Department of Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) and is legislated by the Defense Production Act (DPA) of Canada.
This accreditation will permit Melitron to possess or transfer controlled goods in accordance with the Defence Production Act and the Controlled Goods Regulations.
“Receiving the Controlled Goods Program certification reiterates our commitment to supporting the growing needs of our customers participating in the aerospace, defence, and satellite market segments”, stated Mike Turner, Vice President and General Manager of Melitron. “Through compliance to this program, we can safeguard the controlled goods and technology entrusted to our Company”.
The objective of the Controlled Goods Program is to help strengthen Canada’s defence trade controls and prevent the proliferation of tactical and strategic assets including weapons, satellite global positioning systems and communications equipment, military equipment and related intellectual property. This is done by regulating and controlling the examination, possession, and transfer of controlled goods and controlled technology in Canada.
In addition, as a Canadian precision metal products manufacturer with a sales center in the USA, Melitron is uniquely positioned to manufacture US ITAR-Regulated products under section 126.5 of ITAR.
